GETTING HERE

BY AIR

Most visitors arrive in Sierra Leone by air. Direct flights are available from London by Aestreaus Airlines twice weekly, the Bellview Airlines three times a week.

S.N Brussels operates twice weekly from Brussels with connections from other European Cities to and from Freetown. Visitors to Sierra Leone can also connect on Air France and KLM using regional Airlines to and from Conakry and Abidjan. Connections from other West African cities are available through Ghana Airways, Gambia International Airline, Paramount Airlines and Air Guinea.

Sierra Leone lies in the same time zone as Europe and only 6 ½ flying hours by direct flight from London and Paris. Therefore, no jet lag.

BY LAND

Currently Sierra Leone can be accessed by road from Guinea (Conakry). Special Permits are required if transiting the boarder with a private vehicle. Private taxis, buses and trucks commute daily to and from Conakry/Freetown.

BY SEA

Sierra Leone has the third largest natural harbour in the world, and is looking forward to the arrival of Cruise ships

Cargo and Passenger ships berth at the Queen Elizabeth 11 Quay, while some passengers/Cargo and private crafts can land at the Government Wharf in Central Freetown, arriving most times from Conakry and Banjul. Enquires should be made to Cargo Shipping Agencies

Transfer to/from the Airport

A river separates Freetown city from Lungi International Airport. A ride on the ferry, which takes approximately 45 minutes, is an experience in itself (please be patient with the waiting time and the hustle and bustle at the Ferry Terminals). An improved and faster transfer to and from the Airport by Hovercraft service is also available. Check with airlines or travel agencies for further information.

Helicopter shuttle is available to and from Lungi International Airport to the Aberdeen area, near the capital city - Freetown servicing all arriving and departing airlines.
